Over the course of its short life, Oswestry Ladies Choir has sought to bring the best of Choral Music to the public, from the well-loved classics by Handel, Mozart and Schubert to the most recently composed music written especially for us in our own time. So, it is with the forthcoming Christmas Concert on 15th December 2024 in Christchurch, Oswestry. Oswestry Ladies Choir, a very versatile choir that sings everything from Mozart to Musical Theatre and Puccini to Pop Chorales, will present a selection of Christmas music to suit all tastes, which will include a short Mass by the French composer Delibes, both charming and elegant, imbued with deep spiritual feeling. Complementing the short Mass will be a Christmas Cantata “The Star Arising”, written in 2024 by James M. Martin.
From Prophesy to Promise, this work is a celebration of Light and joy, filled with well-loved carol tunes interspersed with original music, this joyous mix will easily satisfy one’s love of Christmas music. The work’s scripture-based narrative takes the listener through the timeless account and the Good News of the Nativity. Always included in our concerts are traditional carols for all to sing!
This concert on 15th December at 3.00 pm in Christchurch, Oswestry, will be conducted by Dawn Jaffray, accompanied by our resident organist/pianist Elizabeth Dobson.
